We loved our time at Cantinho dos Petiscos., a small family run traditional Portuguese restaurant. We sat by a window where the view looking down the mountain was great, our dinner was delicious and enjoyed wonderful Panchos (the real deal) and Nikita’s .

Quite neat and cozy place. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious (though a little simple) and portions were plentiful, just like some good old home cooking. Not expensive at all.

Lovely locals bar which is extremely cheap but tasty traditional food. They have interesting varieties of poncha (including pitanga prepared specially) which is recommended. Look down over the hillside while sipping a cold beer and avoid most of the tourists.

During our week on Madeira, we came here for meals three times. It`s a local tavern run by super friendly lady who speaks great English. We loved the seafood, bread, dessert...! Everything was excellent!
